Give thanks to nature & volunteer on the Ranch!

Give thanks to nature the day after Thanksgiving by spending the morning outdoors, giving back to the land, and connecting with our community. Green Friday is a no-cost community gathering where your family’s volunteer time supports the Ranch’s year-round nature-based education programs. We welcome all ages and abilities, there’s a meaningful volunteer project for everyone. After volunteering, we invite all families to stay for a cozy picnic lunch and to visit our Wishing Tree to share a moment of gratitude, set an intention, or make a wish for the season ahead. Please RSVP for your family below by selecting the project that speaks to you.

Green Friday Schedule

9:00 AM - 12:00 PM | Family Volunteer Projects

Arrive anytime between 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM to begin your chosen project. Projects vary in length, so we suggest planning your arrival to allow enough time to enjoy your activity. Each family selects a project when RSVPing. All projects are family-friendly and designed for all ages and abilities, with a staff member or garden lead on hand to guide each activity.

Example projects include:

• Tree Mesh Installation

• Donkey Pasture Maintenance / Clean-Up

• Tree & Vine Trimming

• Fava Bean Planting

• Pruning Maltijilla Poppies

• General Garden Maintenance (watering, weeding, and other hands-on stewardship tasks)

12:00 PM – 1:00 PM | Picnic Lunch & Wishing Tree

After volunteering, gather for a cozy picnic with your Thanksgiving leftovers. Then visit our Wishing Tree to share a moment of gratitude, set an intention, or make a wish for the season ahead.

RSVP & Registration

Green Friday is a free, family-friendly volunteer event. To help us plan for projects and materials, we ask that each family submit one RSVP per family.

When RSVPing, please select the project your family would like to participate in. Projects vary in length and intensity, so choose one that fits your schedule and arrival time. Each RSVP also includes participation in the picnic lunch and Wishing Tree, so your family can enjoy the full day at the Ranch.

Once your project is complete, families are welcome to help with general garden maintenance or simply enjoy the Ranch. This helps us make sure there’s a meaningful, hands-on experience for every family, while keeping the day safe and enjoyable for all ages and abilities.
