At Connolly Ranch Education Center, we believe some of childhood’s most meaningful experiences happen outdoors. Through nature-based recreation, exploration, and hands-on experiences, children build confidence, curiosity, independence, friendships, and a lasting connection to the natural world.

Nestled on our historic 13-acre property in the heart of Napa, Connolly Ranch offers children a unique outdoor setting for discovery and adventure. Our farm, edible and pollinator gardens, and WildSpaces provide dynamic environments where children can explore, play, create, move, take developmentally appropriate risks, and learn alongside one another and the natural world.

Guided by caring and experienced program staff, Playschool is rooted in outdoor, experiential, and participant-centered programming. Children spend their time engaging in developmentally appropriate recreational and nature-based activities—from caring for farm animals and tending the garden to hiking, imaginative play, nature exploration, seasonal projects, and gathering together as a group.

Our program rhythm balances active exploration with opportunities for creativity, connection, rest, and reflection. Rather than separating learning from play, we recognize the rich social, emotional, physical, and developmental growth that naturally occurs when children have meaningful opportunities to explore the outdoors, participate in a group community, and develop greater confidence and independence.

The seasons and rhythms of the Ranch guide our experiences. Each day offers children opportunities to wonder, discover, contribute, and develop a deeper relationship with themselves, one another, and the natural world.
